Individual speakers shall be allowed 3 minutes to address the Board on each agenda or nonagenda item. The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes (Board Policy #9323).      (D)

  District administration recommends that the items listed in the supplement be declared surplus property and disposed of in accordance with Board Policy 3270.  Items listed in the supplement are submitted as surplus property.

The Superintendent recommends adoption of the following policies and regulations that were submitted for a first reading on 2-10-15. The Superintendent recommends that now, after the second reading, they be adopted.

  The following policies and regulations are submitted as a first & second reading.  These are technical revisions to make non-substantive changes in sample policies, administrative regulations or board bylaws based on renumbering of laws, changes in the coding of cross-referenced policies, or similar corrections in Notes, legal references, management resources or cross-references.

1. First Reading Board Policies and Administrative Regulations      (D)  
  The following policies and regulations are submitted as a first reading.  New policies and regulations, in addition to previously adopted board policies and administrative regulations containing revisions, bring the district in line with state mandates and current law.

Unfold 11.  CURRICULUM   
         
1. Open House      (D)  
  Each spring all school sites host an open house for parents' and community members' visitation.  This year dates and times are:  

  • Highland Elementary School, April 30, 2015, 6:00 p.m.
  • Standard Elementary School, May 7, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Standard Middle School, May 7, 2015, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Wingland Elementary School, May 14, 2015, 5:30 p.m.
         
2. California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Testing Dates      (D)  
  Director Glynda Martin will provide California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Testing Dates, 2015: March 16 - May 15, 2015.  Practice and Field testing in Math and English/Language Arts for 3rd - 8th grades.  
         
3. Physical Fitness Testing (PFT) Testing Dates      (D)  
  Director Glynda Martin will provide Physical Fitness Testing dates, 2015: February 17 - May 8, 2015 for 5th and 7th grade students.
         
4. California Standards Tests (CST) Testing Dates      (D)  
  Director Glynda Martin will provide California Standards Tests (CST) Testing Dates: April 20- May 1, 2015. The CST Science Test for general education students and the California Modified Assessment(CMA)for special education students, will be administered to all 5th and 8th grade students.  
         
5. Safe School Plans, 2014-2015      (D)  (V)  
  Safe School Plans for the elementary schools are being submitted for Board approval as required annually to ensure compliance with state law. The plans were developed and updated by school site councils and the Kern County Sheriff's Office before being forwarded to the Board of Trustees.  Each safety plan identifies appropriate strategies and programs that will provide or maintain a high level of school safety and address the school's procedures for complying with existing laws related to school safety (Safe School Plans) and a crisis preparedness and response component (School Disaster Plans).


         
6. Study Trips      (D)  (V)  
  K-8 Study Trip Option 1 and Study Trip Option 2 and costs are presented to the board for approval.

1. Job-share Teachers      (D)  (V)  
  District administration recommends ratification of the following job-share teachers for the 2015-16 school year: Lindsay Atchley and Michelle Turner, 4th grade at Highland Elementary School; Kati Wonderly and Breanna Young, 4th/5th grade intervention at Highland Elementary School.  
         
2. Certificated Staff Increase for Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)      (D)  (V)  
  District administration recommends the following increase in Certificated personnel:  Teacher, Moderate/Severe, 1 position at 7.5 hours; Teacher, Special Assignment, 1 position at 7.5 hours.

1. Second Interim Report, 2014-15      (D)  (V)  
  District administration will present the second interim financial report as of January 31, 2015 in accordance with state adopted criteria and standards.  
         
2. Standard Elementary Kitchen Floor - Wiseburn Piggyback      (D)  (V)  
  District administration recommends utilizing the Wiseburn School District piggyback bid option to replace the Standard Elementary kitchen floor utilizing Altro Designer 25 flooring which is designed for kitchens and high traffic areas.  The total amount for demolition and replacement of new floor is $52,788.95
         
3. Standard Middle School Phase 3 - Change Order #01      (D)  (V)  
  District administration has approved Standard Middle School Phase 3 change order #01 in the amount of $12,077.91. The item addressed in this change order is for all labor, materials and equipment necessary to roved 277V power between the "Solatubes". This allows for all "Solatubes" to have dimming capabilities.
